My name is Tom Bury. I’m Regional Sales Manager. I work in overseas sales operations, I’m based at Gaydon.

I ended up working at JLR because I did a Marketing Management degree at Lancaster University. That was a sandwich course where I spent 12 months on a placement at Ford. At the end of that placement I was offered a job at JLR and started straight after my degree. I was attracted to JLR because I wanted to work in the sales environment and the automotive industry is a very exciting industry for me to work in and I think JLR make very cool cars and this is something I full like to be involved in.

My current job is a regional sales manager working in overseas operations. We have a number of offices around the globe working with our dealers in those countries, selling cars. My job is to work with those offices and to try to support them sell as many cars as possible in the markets where we operate.

One of my major achievements while working at JLR was I organised a conference last year for around 20 markets to come and visit the UK and hosted and opened and closed that conference. We were working with a number of markets around Europe to plan the business for 2008. Another achievement is JLR have a scheme where they help pay for us to learn do something every year and last year I learnt, I became a qualified squash coach.

I’ve had an exciting career at JLR so far, my aspirations are that I would like to eventually work overseas in one of our offices around the world, to experience a new country and a new culture and deal with customers and dealers from different places. In my current role I just want to grow and learn more, I’ve only been doing the current role for about 3 months and I’m just excited about the opportunities I have in the future.
