My name is Matias Jose Fuentes Mattioli. I work within product development in the Thermal Management Team, here at Gaydon. I joined Jaguar Land Rover in November 2007.
What attracted me to Jaguar Land Rover was my long term goal of working within product development in the automotive industry. I always knew I had to leave Argentina to go to a country where product development within the automotive industry would be made and I got inspired by some old XJ12 Jaguars which where rotting in a back yard, and that’s when I put together this plan of coming over to Europe to product development.
I started in the Thermal Management Team, which is responsible for driving the thermal attribute of the vehicles. My first job was doing wind tunnel tests, and after that I did in-market testing. I also will be travelling to different parts of the world to test the vehicles, but that happens about three months a year, more or less, so that’s how my work goes.
My major achievement in my 10 months I have been with Jaguar Land Rover has been to do the complete sign off tests of one very exciting new Jaguar model which is coming soon into the market. It’s going to be very nice to see that car on the road and knowing that I had an input in it.
My career aspirations at the moment are to get on with the job in hand. I’m looking forward to driving the thermal attribute of a very interesting vehicle line which is to come out in 2011. That will take me at least one year. And I have just achieved a very important milestone in my career which is to work in the automotive industry. So that means I’m going to take it easy for the moment and then we’ll see how it goes.
