My name is Amir Allah Mohammed. My job title is Vehicle Dynamics Analyst. I work in the vehicle dynamics group and I’m based in Gaydon. I joined Jaguar land rover in September 2007.
A brief time line of my career at Jaguar Land Rover is, I guess, started on the Graduate Programme, a number of placements for approximately a year, and then I got fast tracked into my permanent role in vehicle dynamics and I’ve been there since.
What attracted me to Jaguar Land Rover was the brands, Jaguar, Land Rover, such iconic brands, such heritage, recognised for engineering excellence and I wanted to be part of those teams that deliver on those products that are so renowned, so widely recognised as being class leading products in the industry.
Currently, at Jaguar Land Rover, I’m a Vehicle Dynamics Analyst. I’m responsible for analysing ride and handling, performance of vehicles and determining how we can modify design or tuneable parameters to optimise the road handling and performance of the vehicles.
My major achievement since joining Jaguar Land Rover has been being fast-tracked through the graduate programme. Some of the work I was doing was recognised in one of my placements and I was lucky enough to be offered a permanent position halfway through the graduate programme.
A typical week at Jaguar Land Rover isn’t really that typical. Monday mornings we have a team meeting, just go over what we need to do, what we’ve previously been doing. But then every day is fresh, every day there are new challenges, new problems. Working with different areas all the time, one week we might be working with noise vibration and harshness, another week we might be working with power train engineers and it changes all of the time.
My career aspirations at Jaguar Land Rover are initially, in the short term, to become chartered, to become professionally recognised as a professional engineer. And then in the future to take a more leadership role and develop, well take a lead role in developing a major project.
